Indonesia offers Rp90 T in infrastructure projects to attract global, domestic investors
The Indonesian government offered nine strategic infrastructure projects worth a total of Rp90 trillion (US$5.5 billion) to both domestic and international investors during the 2025 International Conference on Infrastructure (ICI) held in Jakarta on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
These nine projects are part of a larger initiative involving 55 infrastructure developments under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme.
“Today at the ICI, nine of the 55 PPP projects, with a combined value of Rp90 trillion, are officially open for investment,” Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo said during the event.
The projects on offer include five water resource projects, three road infrastructure projects, and one waste management infrastructure project.
In pursuit of the national infrastructure targets set for 2025–2029, the Ministry of Public Works estimates a funding requirement of around Rp1,900 trillion. However, government funding is only expected to cover approximately 60 percent of that total, highlighting the critical need for collaborative and innovative financing solutions.
“Let us view this as a call to action − not just to build infrastructure, but to create long-lasting impact,” Dody emphasized.
He highlighted the success of the PPP model as clear evidence of the private sector's active role in infrastructure development. During the 2020–2024 period, the total infrastructure funding need stood at Rp2,058 trillion, with PPPs and other assigned projects contributing 21.4 percent or Rp440.4 trillion.
The Ministry, through the Directorate General of Infrastructure Financing (DJPI), has been proactively expanding alternative financing schemes. Over the past five years, DJPI has facilitated the signing of 15 PPP agreements across various sectors.
Dody also encouraged officials within the ministry, particularly DJPI, to continue exploring and advancing innovative financing models. These include PPPs, blended finance, asset securitization, and other emerging schemes that can help close the funding gap and drive sustainable development.
